MADAM, I have received a high number of requests again for grit bins which I am of course more than happy to deal with. I wanted to give you the details of how it works in case any of your readers ask you.

Whenever we receive a request we contact Amey and let them know and the request is then added to the list. The proposed site is then visited by an Amey worker who gives it a band rating ( A to D I believe). They then look at their stock and work through the list from the A's and finish when they run out.

Last year I was successful in having 6 new bins sited and through strategically placing them on corners of streets it managed to serve a few more roads and meet a few more requests.

I am happy to add any to the list, the role of the Councillor is very much in the chasing up!

This year I had a few requests for refills from residents who said there was no grit left to do the pavements and roads after they had done their drives and paths, this grit is only for the roads and pavements and it does get harder to get refills if it goes down unusually fast, which is just a point to bear in mind.

If anyone in my ward would like to go on the list then please contact me on [email protected]">[email protected],

Cllr Andrew Atkinson, Ross.
