Goodrich Cricket Club celebrated the end of the 2008 season with the traditional dinner at the Old Court in Whitchurch.
A wonderful meal was followed by an entertaining speech from club president Eric Winchester. Then came the presentation of the awards to the season's most consistent performers.
Winners were: Phil Evans and Roger Lord for 1st team bowling and batting, Andy Evans and Mark Evans won the awards for the 2nd team. Young player of the year was Alex Fuller, fielder of the year was John Beddard and Sid Dunford was the young clubman of the year. The presidents' award was given to Roger Lord.
The dinner was the first course of a triple bill in one week for the club. During the following week Goodrich held their AGM with many of the players continuing their roles in the running of the club. This continuity for the next season, which will be the biggest in the clubs history, was good news.
The dessert course of the week was a fund raising ceilidh with Herefordshire band Whiffeldy. The evening was a huge success, all present had a wonderful time in Goodrich village hall, bringing in welcome funds to the club who are preparing for the centenary of the Goodrich Cup in 2009.
