The annual fete organised by the Friends of Ross Community Hospital took place on Saturday, June 1st in the grounds of the hospital.
The fete was opened by the Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, Councillor Jane Roberts, carrying out one of her first official engagements in the town.
She was accompanied by Councillor Paul Symonds. Her husband, the Consort, Councillor Chris Bartrum was unable to attend as he is under the rules of Purdah owing to the Ross North elections taking place later this week.
Cllr Roberts said that the Town Council fully supported the Hospital and hoped to see it not just remain open but continue to expand the services it offers to the people of the town. She also thanked the Friends for their tireless efforts to support the Hospital.
The occasion was also the first ‘Royal’ engagement for the Ross Carnival Prince and Princess. Phoebe Seaborn presented flowers to the Mayor and Daniel Welfare presented Cllr Symonds with a floral button hole.
There was lots of charities and organisations running their own stalls and sideshows, including the Rotary Club with a Splat the Rat and, due the lovely weather, the ice cream stall did a brisk trade and the raffle also attracted a lot of attention, while the Town Band entertained the crowds.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
