A Ross Cricket Club XI entertained Almeley at The Park on Sunday, September 6th. The match would complete their Sunday Catley-Staite League season for 2009.

Having won the toss, Ross invited the visitors to bat first and let them get away to 90 for the first wicket before Charles Hiram (7-1-38-2) made the breakthrough to remove opener Marc Priday (21) and no 3, N Evans (22).

Dan Barnard (4-0-22-1) removed the other opener Richard Thorne (95) before the introduction of James Tiffen (4.1-0-13-6) cleared up the tail to leave 193 to chase. Skipper Jack Evans(109) got the innings off to a great start with Max Porter (21), but a steady fall of wickets at the other end, left Ross needing 8 runs an over for the last 10 overs.

R Williams (8-0-30-6) was the pick of the bowling for the visitors and when Jack Evans was the last man out Ross were left 26 runs short of the target.
