JEREMY Clarkson has confirmed he is actively looking at opening a second pub, but has said his next venture will not be in Britain.
The revelation comes shortly after the Clarkson’s Farm presenter sparked speculation on social media over the possibility of opening another pub at the £6.75 million Symonds Yat East site.
Clarkson has now confirmed that another pub is genuinely under consideration during a surprise appearance at the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham yesterday.
Asked whether he could open another pub following The Farmer’s Dog near Burford in Oxfordshire, Clarkson revealed he was already exploring the possibility.
He said: “I am actually looking as we speak quite hard into the possibility of opening another pub, but I’m going to give you all a piece of information right now: It’s not going to be in the UK.”
Clarkson appeared alongside Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch during the conference, where he discussed the pressures facing British businesses and the hospitality industry.
He went on to question why anyone would currently choose to start a business in Britain and suggested his search for another pub could instead take him overseas.
However, he stopped short of revealing where he was looking or whether any particular property was under consideration.
The comments provide the clearest indication yet that Clarkson is seriously exploring expanding his pub business after opening The Farmer’s Dog in 2024.
His earlier social media activity had prompted speculation over whether Symonds Yat East, near Ross-on-Wye and the Forest of Dean, could potentially interest the television presenter.
There was no indication that Clarkson had approached the owners or was seriously considering buying the site.
His latest comments now appear to rule out Symonds Yat, along with anywhere else in Britain, while confirming that the prospect of a second Clarkson pub is being actively explored.
