Dear Editor
Once again we appeal to the good folk of Ross and the surrounding villages to support Christian Aid week - from May 12th – 18th. Over 100 volunteers from local churches will be calling house to house. We hope that you, the residents, will be generous, courteous and supportive as money is raised to help relieve the distress in our world. This year the appeal highlights the urgent needs of maternity care in Sierra Leone where ten women die giving birth every day.
Most envelopes will be picked up by the group of very loyal and hard-working helpers, but inevitably some will be missed. This year there are three local outlets who will receive envelopes: Lucas Motorcycles in Brookend Street, Wyedean Wholefoods at 8 Gloucester Rd., and Philip Price, Photographer on the High Street
If people miss giving then late gifts are welcome at these addresses, at any of the churches as well as homes displaying Christian Aid posters.
Christian Aid week sees all the churches of the local area working closely together with special prayers in the services Sundays close to this week.
The local committee organises the collection for Ross Town, Bridstow and Wilton, Brampton Abbotts, Peterstow, Walford, Linton, Lea, Aston Ingham, Upton Bishop and the St Weonards parish.
