The High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, Charles Martell, has formally recognised the contribution Roger Cox has made to May Hill.

The High Sheriff presented Roger with a certificate and ceremonial mug acknowledging Roger’s great and valuable services to his local community. Roger has lived on May Hill all his life and for many years he has taken an active role in the life of the village. He has served on the committee of the village hall, acting as treasurer and custodian, for more years than anyone can remember. As an active member of the congregation of the Chapel he has raised funds for the Chapel through growing and selling box seedlings. He has walked hundreds of miles delivering the monthly village newsletter for many years and has worked tirelessly maintaining the public rights of way around May Hill. The High Sheriff said “this award is well deserved and serves to recognise the quiet contribution of stalwarts in the community such as Roger”.

Roger was presented with his award in his noteworthy knot garden – a well loved feature of May Hill.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
