Dear Editor

Will it never end? Despite the fact that planning approval has been granted for no less than 100 new dwellings in little Lea, a scheme is now afoot to gain permission to construct ten more at a site at Castle End on the opposite side of the A40 from the village’s much-loved primary school.

To that can be added the 212 dwellings that have already been approved for Hildersley Farm, barely three miles from Castle End.

One cannot help but wonder where the owners of all these homes are going to work given the paucity of jobs in the area and how easily the area’s already-tottering infrastructure will cope with the extra pressures placed on it.

Anybody who wants to turn back the surging tidal wave of concrete could start by making their feelings known about the Castle End proposal. You can do so by visiting Herefordshire Council’s web site, clicking on planning application search, and keying in reference P170677/O. Let’s stop our county from being bricked over!
