Ross Town Council met for an Extraordinary meeting to discuss the Market House transfer on Monday and decided that they would inform Herefordshire Council that they are not prepared to take on any liabilities attached to these Assets.

It would appear that while one committee at Herefordshire Council was planning to hand over Assets to groups and organisations, including the Market Town Councils to run, other sections within the Council were looking for funding sources to help improve the facilities within or around these assets. This is where the issue over the new display boards, funded by a Heritage Lottery Grant for the Market House has arisen. Ross Town Council do not think they should be responsible for upholding an agreement they did not make. They think Herefordshire Council should be liable for repaying the grant if the original agreement with the Lottery is not kept.

This is not the only concern for residents who have questioned when the Market House will open as it is getting closer to the tourist season. Everybody's clocks were reset on Sunday as British Summer Time started but the Market House is still an hour behind. Residents wonder who is responsible.
