Despite a very damp start, and a few misgivings that it would be impossible to repeat last year's successful event this year's May Fayre was better than ever. Jesse Norman, MP who left the Hay Festival to visit Ross told the Gazette: "I have no doubt your pages this week will be ringing with tributes to the Ross May Fayre, and rightly so. "It was a fantastic day in every way: beautifully conceived and organised, and full of enthusiasm and passion. People's faces were filled with joy and the community spirit was everywhere. "But these great town events don't happen by themselves. They happen because a particular group of people put in a huge amount of their own time and effort, and inspire friends and fellow-citizens to do likewise. So thank you Colin Leggate and the Association of Ross Traders, and special thanks to Ian Dearlove, Helen Kiddy and Cllr Craig Morgan and unnamed others for organising all the many volunteers and community groups that took part in what was a wonderful and memorable day."
