Since DAVID PRICE joined Ross Golf Club he has played a full part in the Club's activities and in representing the Club's teams at Social and Seniors level. But he did not expect to see his name on one of the Club's Honours boards so soon. This came about when his 41 stableford points outscored 67 other Senior members in the Club's Annual Keene Cup competition and made him the day's winner.

He was closely chased by three members who finished with 40 points each:Stan Beale, Frank Fitton and Michael Bradburn, who all lose one shot from their respective handicaps as a result of their achievements. David Thrower & John Hebdon were 39 pointers, Malcolm Thornton, Roy Jones and Gerald Turner carded 38 points each followed by Brian Clouder, Trevor Flowers, Bob Howells, Clive Whitson and Terry Savage with 37 points each. David and his wife, Rosie, almost found another winning combination when taking part in the Douglas Bader Charity event, and their mixed greensomes 40 points total looked good enough to top the final scoresheet.

They had to settle for the runners-up spot after they were outdone on count-back by Linda Gaiderman and Dave Ruff, who also scored 40 points. They will represent the Club in a Regional event later in the year.

The Club's A had matches against Brickhampton Court and the home leg brought a win for Steve Wallbank's team. There were convincing wins down the order for Captain Wallbank/Christian Bergmann 5/4 and Neil Lancett/Kevin French 4/3 and solid performances at the top from youngsters, Nick Ellis/Josh Adams and Ross Jenkins/Alex Bain, winning 2/1 and 3/2 respectively. Father & son partnership, Gwynne and James Morgan beat the Brickhampton Club champion and Gloucestershire county captain, Nigel Thompson 2/1.

On the return leg Nick Ellis/Josh Adams won the solitary point in a 5-1 defeat. With Club Vice-Captain, Fred Stott in charge, the Club's Social team found themeslves up against it when they visited the South Herefordshire Club. The main positive outcome was that the Ross Club were at least able to avoid a whitewash as Clarkson Barclay/Joe Irvine managed to half their match providing the South Herefordshire lads with a resounding 5.5 points to .5 points win.

There were no such difficulties for the Ross Seniors squad in their home match against the Worcester Golf and Country Club Seniors with Ross Seniors Captain, Graham Chick at the helm.

Ross wins came thick and fast from Brian Clouder/Fred Stott 3/2, Nick Swan/Gerald Turner, Dave Rees/David Price, Chris Harvey/David M Rees, and Graham Baum/Keith Ray who all won 5/4, Doug David/Frank Gallagher 7/5 and a halved match for Terry Savage/Richard Elscombe.

The 6.5 points to 1.5 points win means that in the 13 matches played to date in 2010, the Seniors squad have faltered in just two, with eight wins and three halved matches.
