Residents of the Ross East ward will not be sent polling cards for this week's by-election. Instead voters need to turn up at their usual polling station, the Y Zone youth centre on Hill Street or Tudorville Community Centre.
You do not need a polling card to vote. You just need to turn up at your usual polling station on Thursday, November 28th, between 7am and 10pm, give your name and address and then vote.Herefordshire Council confirmed that they only send out polling cards for a parish council election if the parish council requests it. Ross parish council did not request polling cards so they haven't sent them.
The Mayor of Ross, Councillor Chris Bartrum, said that there was no scheduled meeting at which the town council could discuss whether or not to request the polling cards. He said that the cost of sending polling cards in the post would have added an extra £4,000 on to the cost of the by-election for Ross.
Some residents in the Ross East ward have received hand delivered cards from the Lib Dem candidate reminding them to vote on Thursday. The cards give details of the polling station.
