VISITORS to the Orchard Trust summer fair in the Forest of Dean enjoyed plenty of fun and laughter courtesy of Bagatelle game provided by Ross-on-Wye Rotary Club.

The popular attraction saw a steady stream of adults and children eager to test their skills.

Friendly competition and good humour were in abundance as players tried to beat the top score, while at the same time raising valuable funds for the Orchard Trust which supports and cares for people with learning disabilities.

Two characters from Star Wars dropped by to try their luck, but despite stiff competition from them and players of all ages, it was a young champion, Calico, aged just five years, who claimed the top spot with a remarkable 24 points, a score that despite repeated attempts none of the adults or older children managed to match, let alone beat.

The Orchard Trust runs and operates a number of care homes and supported living homes in the Forest of Dean, supporting people across Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire and Herefordshire.

The specific final amount raised at the Orchard Trust’s Summer Fair, held in July at its Stowfield Site in Lydbrook, has not publicly been announced, but organisers are hopeful that the final total will exceed last year’s impressive £3527.46.

The fair featured live music, a variety of entertainment along with stalls and games.

The Summer Fair is an important date in the Orchard Trust calendar as it is an important way for the Trust to share the good work that it does, raise some funds and of course have some fun.

Ross Rotary Club members thanked everyone who took part and supported the game, helping to make it a successful and enjoyable attraction.

The Ross-on-Wye Rotary Club meets on Mondays at 6.30pm at the town’s Royal Hotel.
