OVERTAKING is to be banned along the main A40 through Lea, which is already limited to 30mph throughout,

Herefordshire Council has just announced the new restriction will be imposed under a traffic regulation order.

The overtaking ban also applies to the rest of the village including the other main road through it, the B4222, which will now also be limited to 30mph southwest of the junction with the A40 in the middle of the village.

Centre lines down the middle of roads are also being removed, and new “village gateway treatments” installed at points where the restrictions begin.

A consultation earlier this year brought no objection to the plan, with Lea Parish Council and local ward member Harry Bramer giving it their backing.
