REGULAR Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings are to be axed as part of a cost-cutting measure, it was announced at the final meeting of its kind last Tuesday evening.

No details of a replacement scheme were put forward at the meeting. The statement said, "Herefordshire Partnership will be discussing and agreeing at its December meeting a way forward. The outcome from this will be communicated to the community via contacts on our database, through parish and town councils, and ward councillors and community and voluntary groups across Herefordshire."

It was revealed that West Mercia Police will continue to run its own weekly PACT surgeries in Ross Library, and that Amey contractors will continue to attend parish meetings and undertake parish walks with parish clerks.
