Several residents contacted the Ross Gazette concerned about work which has been carried out on trees recently.

They questioned what had happened to some of the trees on the Town and Country Trail. There was concern that it was still the nesting season and that the work had been very extensive.

A Herefordshire Council spokesperson told the Ross Gazette: “We have recently carried out tree works on the Town and Country Trail in Ross to remove overhanging branches and epicormic growth to ensure that the route is safe for public use.

Additionally, some private work has been undertaken at residents’ cost, under our guidance.

All privately funded work to Herefordshire Council’s trees must have prior consent before any work is carried out.”
