AFTER reading the Poem written by

the Old Rossian in last week's Ross

Gazette another local poet has put pen

to paper in support of this town.

What is happening to our Town?

Who is trying to kill it?

No one is, oh doggerel poet,

So stop being such a muppet

Tourists and others now hasten by?

They ignore our famous steeple?

Were you out last Saturday in the sunshine?

Use your eyes, the town was packed

with people!

Dirty, empty shops don't abound,

The pavements are cleaner than for

years,

So stop dragging lovely Ross down

In your paean of nostalgia-soaked tears.

In years gone by, great pride was

shown,

And the same is true today,

So let's accentuate the positive,

And shout that we've a great place to

live, work and play.

Of course not everything's perfect,

And of course there's a lot still to gain,

So let's all pull together,

And resolve to do something about it,

not just complain,

To conclude, for goodness sake,

Don't do Ross down with your sorrow,

Just ask most people in our world,

And they'd swap places with us tomorrow!
