I have lived in Herefordshire since 1979, spent over 30 years teaching in local schools and currently live on a family farm in the Golden Valley. My two grown up children live and work in Herefordshire having attended local state schools.
I am involved in my local community through volunteering at the local day centre, singing with community choirs and serving as a parish councillor. I am a member of Herefordshire Ornithological Club, Hereford Meadows Group and HUST.
I have campaigned on NHS related issues for many years; meeting with the Herefordshire Clinical Commissioning Group to try to stop the closure of Redhill Rehabilitation Centre and also discussing the winter closures of the Ross Minor Injuries Unit. My priorities for the future are;
• Effective funding for our NHS and an end to privatisation of its services.
• Combating the climate emergency with Labour’s Green New Deal to make the UK carbon neutral with respect to electrical generation, heating and transport.
• Creating a more equal society by reducing low pay and insecurity in work and in housing.
• Offering a final ‘people’s vote’ on ‘Brexit’ with a credible leave option against remain.
This has been an extremely positive campaign. If elected I will work hard to make the lives of the people of Herefordshire better.
Labour came second here in 2017 with more votes than all the other four opposition candidates added together. I ask Green and Liberal supporters to lend me their votes on December 12th so that by acting together we can mount an effective challenge to the Conservatives.
