I’m very pleased and proud to be giving South Herefordshire a Green option again, and really encouraged by the support I’m receiving from all the local people who want a Green MP.

It was great to answer and discuss the excellent questions asked at the hustings at John Kyrle School on Friday evening. The audience heard how the Green Party is facing head on the challenges we are up against, local, national and international.  We think bottom-up and long-term, and our ideas are much fresher than the mainstream parties, who are stuck in the old politics.

I understand the issues we care about here, and as one of seven Green councillors on Herefordshire council, I am already working hard to improve quality of life for all.

I know how much people in Ross value the Community Hospital, and am demanding that decision-making about closures is more transparent and accountable.  The lack of police, and enforcement, is another worry, and a predictable result of years of austerity.  Cuts have consequences.

One of my particular concerns is our vulnerable young people, and I’m currently chairing a review of how we protect them from exploitation.

I’ve been fighting the savage conservative attacks on Herefordshire’s budgets for years – sadly Jesse Norman has voted with his party whip for these cuts again and again.  If you elect me I will take your concerns to Westminster and fight for the investment we deserve in our county.  I’m ambitious for Herefordshire, simple Green policies like investing in clean energy jobs, and decent bus services that reduce congestion and social isolation, make a huge difference to our wellbeing. We can become the UK’s greenest healthiest county, attracting businesses and tourism, following Ross’s fine tourist tradition.

Green policies are popular because we all want to be happy and healthy. We don’t have to worry about tactical voting, and can vote for what we believe in. Vote for a safer, fairer, cleaner future.
