Following last week’s coverage in the Ross Gazette of the recent Liberal Democrats leaflet a response has been received from the party.
Kevin Tillett, Chair of Herefordshire Liberal Democrats said: “Attending meetings is an important part of a councillor’s role. It enables arguments to be put forward and decisions to be made which cannot be done elsewhere. The attendance records and payments (where appropriate) are a matter of public record. We have featured them in previous Lib Dem literature.
“Currently, there is a marked disparity between the attendance record of the three councillors who represent Ross on Herefordshire Council. We have not “cherry-picked”. We have presented the facts.
“We all understand the pressure of work and the conflict with other duties. In the recent past, a councillor has resigned when unable to reconcile these difficulties. In any event, the public are surely entitled to be aware of the situation and come to their own conclusions.”
