A £10,000 grant awarded to Ross in 2012 as part of a scheme to rejuvenate the High Street has yet to be spent.

The Town was given the five-figure sum as part of a scheme by retail guru Mary Portas, to improve the health of towns across the country. However, due to series of hold-ups, the money has yet to be spent.

Councillor Andy Atkinson, who was part of the 'Town Team' that won the grant, told the Ross Gazette: "We've had some really good plans for the Market House, involving buying new stalls so we can have some really funky markets, but we couldn't spend the money whilst the Asset Transfers were going on."
