St Michael’s Hospice, which is the Mayor of Ross-on-Wye’s chosen charity this year, is inviting wannabe Santas to put on a red coat and help fund end-of-life care in Herefordshire by taking part in a special festive 5K run.
All runners will be given a Santa suit so they can look the part. The event is part of the St Michael’s Hospice Christmas Festival, which takes place on Saturday, December 12th at The Bishop of Hereford’s, Bluecoat School in Hampton Dene, Hereford.
Runners as young as 11 can take part, and for Santa’s younger helpers, there is also a chance to bring a glow to the streets of Hampton Dene, on a 3K Lantern Walk.
Matt Ashcroft, Events Manager at St Michael’s Hospice, told the Ross Gazette: "Last year’s event was enjoyed by over 400 runners and walkers. We are really looking forward to everyone getting involved and enjoying an event that has a very special atmosphere.’
As well as snow canons guaranteeing that all festival goers have a white Christmas, there will be stalls selling gifts, decorations, Christmas cakes, hot chocolate, mince pies and more.
Matt added: "It’s going to be the perfect opportunity for supporters to finish their Christmas shopping and stock up on festive treats. We will also have a very special Santa, who will be meeting and greeting children. It’s all part of the Christmas Festival fun."
