Two minutes silence was observed by a large crowd remembering the fallen at The Prospect on Remembrance Sunday. The mounting deaths in Afghanistan brought home the reality of the sacrifice made by those who died in the two World Wars and in other recent conflicts.

There was a very small contingent from the Royal British Legion lined up alongside the members of uniformed youth organisations. The Reverend Sarah Jones made the dedication and led the prayers, Mr Fred Jones spoke the exhortation and Mr George Taylor played the Last Post and the Reveille.

Air Commodore VL Warrington OBE, the President of the Ross Branch of the Royal British Legion, placed the Legion's wreath at the foot of the war memorial. For the Ross Women's Section of the RBL a wreath was laid by Mrs Rosemary Ceci.

Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, Mr Paul Deneen laid a wreath and the Deputy Mayor of Ross, Councillor Jo Lane, laid the wreath on behalf of Ross Town Council. Herefordshire Councillor Gordon Lucas laid the County's wreath. Councillor Chris Bartrum laid a wreath for the Liberal Democrats, while Councillor David Ravenscroft placed a wreath on behalf of the Conservative Association.

Further wreaths were laid by various organisations. At the service which followed in St Mary's Church, Air Commodore Warrington read part of a poem 'There Lie Forgotten Men' written by 13 year old Rebecca Sullivan. Fred Jones gave a reading from the Gospel of St Matthew about loving ones enemies and the Reverend Jones continued this theme in her sermon.
