The Phoenix Theatre is looking forward to re-starting the cinema in Ross following the disbanding of the Ross Cinema Group as reported in last week’s Ross Gazette. The Phoenix Theatre welcomes the transfer of ownership of the equipment and associated working capital as agreed at the Town Council meeting on Monday, April 8th.

However, not all councilors were in favour of the transfer of ownership. Michelle Cooper a spokesperson from The Phoenix Theatre had this to say “The Phoenix Theatre is delighted that a positive decision was reached at the council meeting and we are grateful for the council’s support in this motion. In regards to the objections, The Phoenix Theatre has no intention of selling the equipment and the monies received will be for cinema use only, to service the equipment and to pay for future film licensing.

The Phoenix Theatre is at the heart of the community and has been since 1923, we are a non-profit organisation with charity status and our only intention is to continue providing a great venue for the arts making it accessible to everyone within the local community”.

The Cinema will re-launch in June-July 2019, so please keep your eyes open for upcoming events by visiting www.phoenix-theatre.org.ukSee this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
