Drivers in Goodrich have been told that a road, which has been shut since April, 2018 after a rock collapse, should reopen in January, 2019 after repair work has been carried out.

Herefordshire County Council says staff had to close the B4299 at Goodrich due to a rockfall, so that the site could be inspected, adding that no-one was hurt at the time.

Now, after design work, on-site work is soon to begin to make the road safe again. Herefordshire Council describe the rockface, as it presently is, as ‘dangerous’ and hope the works will allow two way traffic flow to be restored.

A spokesperson for Herefordshire Council said: “Work is due to commence in mid-November, following complex design work. It is estimated to take three months. Temporary traffic lights are in place during work.”See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
