HEREFORDSHIRE Advanced Drivers, the local affiliate of the Institute of Advanced Motorists are holding a Driver Refresher Day at the Larruperz Centre in Ross-on-Wye next month.

The programme on Saturday, September 12 lasts from 9.30am until 3pm and the objective is to help drivers feel safer, more confident and in better control when driving on today's roads by updating knowledge of the rules of the road and the Highway Code; demonstrating safer driving techniques and putting them into practice in your own car, accompanied by a friendly, qualified advisor.

There is no testing involved during the course. The cost is £30 per person or £25 each for a couple. For booking, which is essential, or further information please call 01432 840835.

A similar programme was held last year, and this was oversubscribed with organisers opting to hold a second programme.

Ghost broking sees fraudsters pose as legitimate insurance providers, often on social media, to sell policies that are fake, invalid or bought using false information.

The insurer currently combats around 13,000 mispresented and purposefully altered polices a year, including those purchased through a ghost broker, with no signs of the issue slowing down.

The number of fake and misrepresented policies or where ID has been stolen and used without knowledge and been identified by the insurer has risen by 33 per cent between 2022 and 2025.
