THE planned annual Ross-on-Wye Duck Race that is staged over the Bank Holiday weekend, has had to be cancelled this year.

The organisers, Ross Lions Club, state that this is due to the low water levels on the River Wye, which has also seen the cancellation of Ross Rowing Club’s annual regatta, held over the same weekend.

The organisers said that the very low water levels on the river have made it unsafe for the volunteers to make the duck race happen.

Instead, there will be a special event held by the Lions Shop, Broad Street at 5pm on Sunday, August 30 which will include announcements of the winners of children's competitions and the formal draw to find the prize winners for this year.
