TWO Ross-on-Wye hairdressing salons have made it through the first round of rigorous judging to reach the Midlands Regional Final of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Awards 2016 – the most prominent and prestigious hairdressing competition in the UK. Each year the competition attracts 1000s of entries from salons wanting to prove their colour and styling credentials in the hope of scooping up one of the industry’s most coveted trophies.

Teams from Reds Hair Company, which is based in Henry Street and Peter Hickman, which is in Gloucester Road, have reached the final 60 hairdressing salon teams in the Midlands.

The Midlands Regional Final will take place on Tuesday, April 12th at Aston Villa Football Club, Birmingham. This stage of the competition will put the Regional Finalists through their paces in three categories – the L’Oreal Colour Trophy (women’s hair), the L’Oréal Men’s Image Award and the L’Oréal Colour Trophy STAR Award for hair colourists between 18 – 25 years old.

Competitors will go head to head to create a live model look that demonstrates an awareness of the Autumn/Winter 2016/17 hair fashion trends in just 30 minutes.

Charles Worthington MBE said:?“To make it through to this stage is already a great achievement and now each competitor will need to demonstrate a sharp awareness of current definitive trends and translate them into all of the elements that create an overall live model look. Both clothes styling and hair will all need to merge flawlessly on a model selected specifically to capture the look.” Only seven of the competing teams will go through to join the overall grand finalists from the other eight regions where they will compete at the live L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final on Monday, June 13th, at the iconic O2 in London.
