£877.40 was raised for Cancer Research UK during a charity bingo and raffle prize night, which was held on Thursday, May 25th, at the King Charles II pub.
Lorraine Andrews, a member of the Ross Spar team, hosted the bingo evening, which was supported by many local residents, and the manager of the Ross shop, Gill Young.
The Spar team also sold raffle tickets at the shop in the lead up to the event. Lorraine told the Gazette that she had approached many local businesses in Ross asking for donations for the prizes, and she said that almost everyone was very generous, giving fantastic prizes.
She said that they decided to raise funds for Cancer Research, as everyone knows someone who has battled with the illness. “It doesn’t matter who you are, it touches everybody,” Lorraine commented.
