Andrew Buffrey, Chair of Ross Town Carnival, recently told the Ross Gazette that the Ross-on-Wye Town Carnival Committee is in desperate need of more members and volunteers to help continue this oldest traditional local event for many years to come.
There are now just five members on the Committee. A spokesperson for the Town Carnival Committee said: “We cannot continue with these numbers as we all also hold full time jobs, so please consider if you can help and commit to giving the town a good day. It’s a case of help or lose it I’m afraid, so any help would be gratefully accepted.”
They will have an open meeting on Wednesday, January 30th at 7pm in the Ollie Floyd Suite in The Eagle Inn, for anyone to come and hopefully join them in the preparations for this year’s Carnival which is on Saturday, August 3rd. There is a lot to sort out before the actual day, as well as having efficient helpers on the day itself, and with only a few the members have struggled to make it work.
Ross Town Carnival Committe are looking for a Steward Co-ordinator and Stewards, a Parade Organiser, Fund Raising Events Volunteers, a Road Closure Co-ordinator, Princess and Prince Float Decorators, an Odd Object Co-ordinator, and a Carnival Field Stall Co-ordinator.
If you are keen to help and want to be part of this wonderful event then please don’t hesitate in coming along to find out more.
If you cannot make the meeting and are interested please send an email to Andrew at: [email protected], or message the members via their Facebook page Ross Town Carnival.
