The Ross Juniors Girls U10s were honoured by Ross Town Council on Wednesday evening (July 19th) at a club open evening, which marked FA Girls’ Football Week.

The Mayor of Ross, Cllr Nigel Gibbs, and Town Councillor Hannah Lerego attended the event to celebrate a recent achievement of the Under 10 Girls, who were crowned the Futsal Champions of England in June.

At the FA Futsal National Finals, Ross Juniors Under 10 girls set the football pitch alight with their performances in Birmingham. They were originally thrilled to have just won a place at the finals, but they went on to win five out of five games and win the Nationals.

Cllr Lerego, who is the Town Council’s representative at the Sports Centre, made each of the girls a goodie bag, filled with little gifts, including a notebook and pen for them to practice their signature. Hannah said that now they are famous for being the Champions of England, they will need to perfect signing their name as they will be asked for their autograph.

Cllr Nigel Gibbs also visited the team to offer his congratulations, and gave them each a certificate. The girls were all very excited to meet the Mayor and gave him three cheers.
