The Ross Gazette can reveal that Ross' register office in Cantilupe Road is to close in August. The registration services for births and deaths will move in with Herefordshire Council's customer services at Ross Library.

The move will mean the end for register office weddings in the town. Couples wishing to get married at a register office will have to go to Hereford or other premises authorised for wedding ceremonies.

Herefordshire Council has said that they will be honouring any bookings for the coming year. The closure of the register office is a part of the Council's wider cost cutting measures. Yesterday, they published their Budget Consultation Report, detailing the feedback of a public consultation over the cuts.
