General Sir Peter de La Billière opened the Ross Remembers events on Saturday, he was joined for the opening ceremony by his wife, members of the Ross branch of the Royal British Legion and many local dignataries, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Ross, several Councillors and veterans.

During the morning a war-time football match between the German and British soldiers was re-enacted by young members of Ross Juniors Football Club The Mayor and Mayoress of Ross, Councillor Colin Gray and his wife Anne, opened the Ross Remembers event on Sunday in the Market Place. During the morning Ross Town Band played whilst James Weatherhead cycled the distance equivalent to crossing the Channel. The Penyard Singers entertained during the afternoon.
