A ROSS-ON-WYE organisation supporting people facing hardship and other challenges for the past two years, has now become a registered charity.

Known as @The Hub, it recently received its formal registration number from the Charity Commission, marking an important milestone in the organisation's development.

Founded in 2024, @The Hub was established in Corpus Christi Lane to support people who often struggle to find the help they need, particularly those facing housing insecurity, financial difficulties, poor mental health, isolation and other forms of disadvantage.

Having previously operated as a social business, a Community Interest Company, the organisation has grown steadily over recent years, leading to its successful registration as a charity.

Annie Fisher, co-founder and trustee of @The Hub, said that receiving the charity registration is an exciting milestone for @The Hub and added: “This is especially so for the people we support. It reflects the public benefit of our work and will help us build a strong and sustainable future for the organisation.

"Over the last few years, we've met many local people who have been struggling with housing issues, benefits, debt, loneliness, family difficulties and other challenges.

“Sometimes they don't know where to turn, or they've been passed from one organisation to another without finding the help they need.

"Our aim has always been simple: to listen, to treat people with dignity and kindness, and to help them find practical solutions."

The charity supports people across Herefordshire and works closely with local organisations to ensure people can access the right help at the right time.

As part of its continuing development, @The Hub has formed recent partnerships with Onside, Worcestershire/Herefordshire charity specialising in advocacy, equality and support services, and with Marches Counselling.

Working with Onside, @The Hub will soon be helping to provide support for young people aged 11 to 18 and their families, with more details to be released soon.

The partnership with Marches Counselling will strengthen the support available to people experiencing emotional and mental wellbeing challenges.

Rachel Hankins, chairman of the trustees, said: "What has impressed me most since becoming involved with @The Hub is its commitment to treating people with dignity, compassion and respect. The charity registration recognises the value of that work and gives us a strong foundation for future development.”

Milly Boylan, co-founder and chief officer said: "None of us can solve complex problems alone. The new partnerships we are developing show the importance of local organisations working together, sharing our expertise and focusing on what people in Ross really need."

While the organisation's legal structure has changed, its mission and grassroots ‘feel’ remain the same: helping people overcome challenges, build resilience and access the support they need to move forward with their lives.

Further announcements about the charity’s new services and developments are expected in the coming months.
