Local residents are being invited to shape the future of their healthcare services at an upcoming Health & Wellbeing Drop-In Session hosted by Alton Street Surgery. The informal event, which also serves as a Patient Participation Group (PPG) Awareness Day, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 13.
Led by Dr Simon Lennane, Senior GP Partner, the open sessions aim to strengthen ties between the medical practice and the community it serves. The event offers a unique, accessible platform for patients to discover more about their local GP surgery and the diverse range of healthcare services currently provided on-site.
Crucially, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the vital work of the Patient Participation Group (PPG). Organisers hope to inspire patients to get actively involved, share their unique perspectives, and directly contribute to shaping the future development of healthcare delivery at Alton Street.
"Your voice matters," a spokesperson for the surgery emphasized ahead of the event. "Whether you are interested in your own personal health and wellbeing, want to know more about how the PPG operates, or simply want to support local healthcare development, we would love to see you there."
The event has been structured to accommodate busy weekend schedules, offering two identical drop-in windows. The morning session will run from 11:30 am to 1pm, followed by an afternoon session from 3 pm to 4:30 pm.
In addition to learning about the surgery's infrastructure, patients will be able to ask questions and share their innovative ideas directly with Dr Lennane in an informal, welcoming setting. The practice stresses that absolutely everyone is welcome to attend, reinforcing that collaborative feedback is essential to improving care standards for all patients.
