Dear Editor,

Further to the letter from John Startin last week, Herefordshire Council has tabled a serious proposal to close the libraries in Ross, Leominster, Ledbury and Bromyard, leaving only the central library in Hereford.

Can we please have a huge and concerted effort from the whole community to ensure that our libraries remain open and available to all local residents.

If this requires an increase in Council Tax it will be a small price to pay for ensuring the continuation of this essential part of British Life.

I recommend contacting your local councillor asap to lobby for their support.

Howard Eldridge, Ross
