TAKING a Sauna is a way of life for those happy and healthy Scandinavians, and now they're popping up all over the UK.
Black Box Sauna hand-makes theses saunas, which aims to support long-term health and longevity and has teamed up with Secret Sauna, both located in the same village, to create a bespoke service.
Rachel Marshall of Black Box said: "I've always believed that true well-being comes from a connection with nature and while there are saunas all over the UK now, it means a lot to have one designed, built and where my family are growing up.”
Contrast therapy is the alternation between the sauna heat and the cold of a bath chilled to eight degrees; this triggers a rush of endorphins and dopamine.
It provides many health benefits: boosts circulation, reduces inflammation and muscle soreness, lowers cortisol and stress, enhances mental clarity, it lifts mood and aids sleep. Sauna goers are devotional about the feeling on their skin.
Rachel added: "Secret Sauna is bringing the science of contrast therapy together with our relationship with nature,” as it nestles amongst mature trees at the Mad Dogs and Vintage Vans glampsite at The Old Rectory in Brompton Abbotts.”
Sauna master Al Farquhar said that they are seeing the benefits of not just being a location for accommodation, but also for those coming to relax after work. He added: “Saunas are great levellers and good spaces for contemplation or blue sky thinking. You can't use your phone and there is a gentle bond with other participants, be they friends, family or strangers.”
Every year, Black Box Sauna works with a select number of wellness-focused businesses, from glampsites and wild swimming lakes to luxury hotels.
As part of this process the company helps create a new and lucrative revenue stream for its clients and establish a unique selling point that distinguishes their business from competitors.
