Many Ross-on-Wye residents were wondering what was happening this evening (16th August) as the police helicopter hovered over the town.

The Ross Gazette has learnt that the police helicopter presence was to assist ground officers in locating a missing person.

Since leaving Ross, the West Merica Air Support team updated their Twitter account @AirOneHeli with the following:

"Search for a missing person at Ross on Wye. large expanses of open ground and river searched for ground officers - not located."
