Ross Rugby Club 2nds continued their impressive form with a comprehensive 45 points to 5 victory over Old Halesowens.

The glut of tries started in the 5th minute when a good run by Jack Taylor set up Tim Chainey, and he beat two defenders to touch down for a try which was converted by Craig Powell.

Ten minutes later, back-row Paul Hayward was on hand to score a second Ross try, this time the conversion was missed to give Ross a 12 - 0 lead. The home side's forwards were working hard by holding a much bigger Halesowen pack. Strong running by number 8, Tim Hanks, hooker, Tony Clements, and prop, Rob Jode, kept Ross on the the forward foot and produced fine ball for the backs to attack. Ross kept the pressure on and a powerfull run by Stuart Veale resulted in Ross' third try. The conversion was added by Powell to take the score to 19 - 0.

Still running at every oportunity, the next to score, with a fine solo try, was Jack Taylor. This was quickly followed by a Karl Pritchard try. Both of these were converted by Powell. Ross were now in control of all aspects of play and it was only a matter of time before the fleet footed Jack Taylor added his second, from a fine solo run to score under the posts for a converted try.

Halesowen scored their only points of the game when the 2nd row burst through some poor tackling to score a try in the corner. Ross responded to this minor setback in fine style. Winning back the restart the ball moved through the backs to find Chainey in space. With a jinking run he crossed the line for the last try of the match. This was converted by Powell to end a fine display by Ross.

Ross 2nds are grateful to Saturday's match sponsors, Techniplumb Heating Services. The 'man of the match' award went to the Ross squad for an outstanding display.

Next week Ross travel to play against Luctonions.
