James Weatherhead took part in his final event for this year raising funds for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, Herefordshire Branch.
James took part in the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday, October 1st, running alongside nine other members of the Royal British Legion team who come from various places around the UK to take part in this event. James finished with a time of 1 hour 59 mins 16 secs. He was placed 6967th out of 19,641 runners.
He thanked everyone who supported him and donated. He has now raised over his target of £600. James told the Ross Gazette:?“I wanted to raise as much money as I can for a very good cause. This is my way of supporting those who have lost their lives in all conflicts, it is very important to let younger people know that we remember all those who have fallen.”
James has been involved with the Royal British Legion since 1997, and he continues to be an active member of the Ross Branch. He is a familiar face to many in Ross-on-Wye, he is a retired postman and former Ross Parish Councillor.
