Madam, My motto on my desk calendar reads: 'Teachers are never appreciated by parents until it rains all Saturday.' I understand the sentiment, but I do hope it isn't true!

John Kyrle High School is brimming over with excellent teachers, who, in my experience as a parent, are motivated and, pretty much without exception, have, over the years, made me feel that my children are at the top of their Agenda – not bad when you think how many children they teach on a daily basis! Typically I don't often consider the work that the Governors do, but they are clearly getting it right because John Kyrle is an excellent School and 6th Form.

I would take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to those staff and the Governor who have recently left. However, I hope I have also taken the opportunity to thank them over all of the years that my children have been at John Kyrle. In short, none of us should need to be invited to a big party, or even to contribute to a grand leaving present, in order to say 'thank you' – it should happen frequently where deserved.

I do not have a single regret in sending my children to John Kyrle; from the nurture of Year 7 to the growing independence of 6th Form, where my children both chose to stay for their further education – it is a well lead successful school, and Ross on Wye is lucky to have such a jewel in its crown.

Incidentally, the last time I looked, Mr Griffiths job title was Head Teacher not Party Organiser!
