An application has been made to Herefordshire Council for planning permission for a mobile operating theatre at Hereford County Hospital. The application is also for minor site works to accommodate the structure, and to create a narrower car park access, as well as the erection of a mobile retinal scanner and to provide a new ramp.
Hereford Hospital is looking to install a new temporary modular operating theatre with a new permanent lobby and store adjacent, and a mobile retinal scanner with a new ramp to the South West elevation of the hospital.
Both projects are being followed as interim measures as part of the longer term Estates Strategy. Each facility is needed to meet the current service demand and to comply with National targets for waiting times.
The proposed retinal scanner will take up six existing parking spaces, but the intention is to reinstate these spaces in another location at the Hospital site.
The application – P153418/F is due to be decided in January and the consultation period will end on Wednesday, December 23rd.
