A former Captain of the Ryder Cup team, Brian Huggett, who lives in Weston under Penyard and is a member of Ross Golf Club, is gearing up for one of the busiest weeks of his life.
Brian was appointed by The European Ryder Cup Board to be its ambassador in Wales and was a leading member of the team which campaigned to bring The Ryder Cup to Wales, but his connection with the tournament stretches back 47 years.
And it is Brian who is credited with pushing for the inclusion of Continental Europe to the competition and transforming it from a one-sided match, of little appeal to the Americans, into one of sport's most exciting spectacles.
The third largest sporting event in the world, the bi-annual golfing Ryder Cup, takes place at the Celtic Manor resort in Newport, this weekend, from October 1st to October 3rd.
