Hoardings have started to go up around the old Gardner Butcher garage this week. The site is owned by supermarket chain Aldi, which has came under pressure from local Councillor, Andrew Atkinson, and Herefordshire Council's Planning Enforcement team, to get the site tidied up, or the building demolished, to improve that area of the town.

Cllr Atkinson told the Ross Gazette:"The irony is, it has not been the right timing for Aldi to build their store in the ten years or so that they have been there, now, that they are desperate to build, they cannot as they have some third party issues to sort out before the building can be demolished."

Cllr Atkinson went on to explain in his negotiations with the store, he had told them that the people of Ross do not share their confidence in how soon the tidy up will happen so a resolution is needed immediately.
