A Smashed window at the Eagle Inn was the last straw for Ross Police who took action to close the pub this week after continued incidents of crime and disorder.

The doors of the Eagle remained firmly shut on Monday after the police called for a review of the pub's licence. The police told the Ross Gazette that the majority of trouble in Ross over the Christmas and New Year period had been centred around the Eagle. Then on Saturday, January 8th, the police arrested a person after a window was smashed and called for a review.

The pub will be closed until Friday, January 14th when it will re-open with a new management team. There will also be a formal hearing in February although the date is still to be confirmed.

Alex Knapman, 20, the former manager, told the Gazette he has lost his job following the closure, along with other bar and door staff.

He said that he had been working hard over the past three months to get rid of troublemakers. He said that he felt the situation had been slowly improving and that the police could have been more supportive.

James Heggie, 27, who was employed as a doorman at the Eagle, said:?"The biggest concern is that the police are not solving anything they are just moving the trouble elsewhere."

As the Gazette went to press on Tuesday, January 11th the windows and doors of the Crown and Sceptre were being secured.
