A GROUP of local photographers will put Ross-on-Wye and the surrounding area in the frame when they hold their annual exhibition next month.

The Waterpump Shutterbugs will showcase a selection of their work at St Mary’s Church in Ross from Saturday, October 3 to Friday, October 9.

Officially known as Ross & District u3a Photo Group 2, the group is made up of nine photography enthusiasts who regularly head out to discover and capture locations across the local area.

Members have a wide range of photographic interests, with their work covering nature, landscapes, architecture and macro photography.

The exhibition will bring those different styles together, giving visitors the chance to see some of the subjects and scenes which have caught the photographers’ attention during their outings.

The Waterpump Shutterbugs are also keen to demonstrate that people do not need expensive or sophisticated equipment to enjoy photography.

Members use a variety of equipment ranging from smartphones and compact cameras to DSLRs and modern mirrorless cameras.

The group said: “The kit is not important, it’s all about the photos!”

The exhibition will officially open during St Mary’s monthly coffee morning on Saturday, October 3, which will run from 10.30am until noon.

Visitors will be able to browse the photographs while enjoying tea and cakes at the church.

Organisers said they hoped the exhibition would appeal both to keen photographers and people interested in seeing images of Ross and the wider district from different perspectives.

They also encouraged those simply curious about photography and the group’s work to come along.

The Waterpump Shutterbugs annual exhibition will remain on display at St Mary’s Church, Ross-on-Wye, until Friday, October 9, with everyone welcome to visit.
