WESTON under Penyard Village Hall’s brand-new meeting room is now open and ready to support community groups, local organisations and businesses.

The village hall has always been a well-used amenity, and now a single storey extension is enhancing the community facilities by providing an additional meeting space to allow for big ideas to grow, small meetings to be held and provide stronger community connections.

Created through a successful partnership between the Parish Council, the Village Hall and Mike Etheridge Construction, and funded using Section 106 money obtained from local developers to improve local amenities, creates this much-needed new room gives the village a flexible extra space designed for modern use, complete with appropriate sanitary provisions.

The new meeting room is self-contained and separate from the activities in the main hall, so different events can run at the same time without disturbing one another.

This is ideal for committee meetings, training sessions, interviews, small business presentations, planning discussions, community projects, clubs and informal talks, the room offers table seating for up to 14 people or theatre-style seating for up to 16.

Facilities include a private kitchenette, accessible toilet, wi-fi, a large screen for computer connection and everything needed to make any session simple, comfortable and professional.

Heather Carlisle, Herefordshire Council’s planning officer visited the site prior to the extension being constructed said: “In order to support the proposed level of growth in the area developers should contribute towards enhancing these community facilities like the expansion of Weston-Under-Penyard.

“The addition is considered to add to the vitality of the community facility and would help to bolster a sense of community within the village.”

The meeting room can be booked through the Village Hall website at £10 per hour for community organisations and £13 per hour for other users.
