The Third of Ross Golf Club's five Barnfield Trophy stableford qualifying events was blessed with acceptable playing conditions recently. 112 members took the opportunity to be included in the final showdown, which takes place in March, when 60 players compete to become the Club's 2013 Barnfield Trophy Champion.
Handicap Division 1 was headed by ten handicapper Dave Hart with an impressive 41 points total, followed by Chris Taylor with 39 points and Jim Wilkinson, Nick Swan and Colin Bennion with 38 points each. Colin's consistency was in evidence as he had qualified in the previous two qualifying events as well.
This means that there were also qualifying places awarded to Charlie Walker's 37 points and Charles Moore, John Palmer and David Griffiths who totalled 36 points each. Graham Stonadge, who also scored 36 points, just missed out on this occasion.
Handicap Division 2 contained the day's top performers with Paul Reynaert's massive 44 points just getting the better of Graham Weare on count back. He also scored 44 points, with 27 of those coming in Graham's opening nine holes, and both players suffering reductions in their respective handicaps as a result of their achievements.
Mark Dee and Richard Topping will be pleased with their respective 42 points totals and they were followed by Philip Bull with 40 points and Peter James, Adrian Hope, Graham Jell and Terry Savage all getting themselves into the qualifying pack with their 39 points scores.
