A local Ross-on-Wye forklift manufacturer recently took on Pavestone Rally, where some of Europe’s greatest roads are taken on in the cheapest cars possible, many of whom were in fancy dress, whilst raising money for charity.
Loadmac, joined forces with their UK distributor Atlas Cranes UK, to enter a team into this years’ Pavestone Rally.
The race finished on Sunday, September 8th but they are still raising money for three charities.
Organised by landscaping and building products suppliers, Pavestone, the rally saw over 42 teams complete a route from, between September 5th and 8th, completing challenges along the way. Over the last three years, the rally has raised over £325,000 for charity, with all money raised from the event this year distributed between three charities; Rainy Day, Teenage Cancer Trust and Variety.
Any costs from this event were fully covered by both Loadmac and Atlas Cranes UK meaning all donations made have gone straight to the chosen charities. Loadmac design and manufacturer the only truck mounted forklift built in Britain from their factory in Ross-on-Wye. The product is sold worldwide in the UK and is distributed by Atlas Cranes UK.
The Managing Directors of both organisations, Mark Hignett, and Jim Smith, were the pair that teamed up to take on the cheap car challenge.
The final day involved leaving Lake Como in Italy at 7.30am and arriving home at after covering 840 miles in 15 hours, Mark told the Ross Gazette.
He said: "I only took part at short notice and at the request of the UK Dealer for Loadmac truck mounted forklifts (Atlas Cranes UK Ltd) as they were a driver short. I have never done anything like this before."
