It was the turn of Goodrich ’C’hasers to host Woolhope ’B’ ladies on a very damp morning on Sunday, November 4th.

First couple, Jill Brown and Wendy Jenkins, were disappointed not to win the first set against Woolhope, going down 5-7, but turned it around in fine style in the second set, winning 6-1, and also coming out on top in the third set, 7-6.

’C’hasers second pair, Rosemary Chatterton and Shani Courtney were level pegging in the first set, 4-4, but Woolhope broke serve and served the set out, 6/4, and also wrapped up the second set 6/1. Although the score was one rubber each Woolhope had the advantage of the extra set.

Following a short interval for a hot drink and nibbles, play resumed with Brown and Jenkins taking on the Woolhope second pair, and won both sets, dropping just one game, 6/0 and 6/1.

Meanwhile, Chatterton and Courtney, who had both stepped in at the last minute due to player injuries, were now facing the Woolhope first pair, and although they managed to win 4 games, Woolhope took the sets 6/3 and 6/1, and overall a winning draw. The ’C’hasers next match is on 18th November, away to Hallow ’B’ in Division 5 of the H & W Winter League.
